As we get closer to the launch of the iPad, with April 3rd now just under two weeks away, we’re faced with the fact that there’s not going to be that much iPad-centric information coming out anymore. This is basically the calm before the storm, and the only way we’re going to get through this, is together. So, let’s sit down, hold hands, and look over the last week of news, shall we? (No, you don’t have to hold hands if you don’t want to. It’s just a suggestion.)

First up, we have the most ridiculous iPad we’ve ever seen. It’s Apple’s tablet, encrusted with diamonds. So many diamonds, in fact, that the total sales price is an astonishing $19,999. If you’ve got that in your pocket, ready to go, maybe there’s other things you should buy with it. Then again, maybe not.

We also heard rumors that, after the 120,000 mark was hit for pre-orders, people started floundering away. Basically, word on the street is, is that after the initial boom, where it reached 50,000 units per hour, the demand for the tablet died off entirely. It went from 50,000, to 1,000 per hour. Pretty drastic drop, if you ask us. But then again, we don’t necessarily believe it, and thankfully we’re not the only ones. Another report released in the same week, says that all estimates for the iPad are wrong, and that, oddly enough, the actual numbers are much higher than anyone is predicting. Good days for Apple lie ahead, that’s for sure.

The fifth Beta for Apple’s iPhone SDK 3.2 was released this last week as well.

Which leads us into the fact that, with the SDK, developers are going to be able to create things like this, all the time. The movable magazine is fantastic, and we can’t wait to subscribe to any digital media that gives us this kind of interaction. Seriously, the potential for the iPad is pretty much mind boggling. Oh, and those developers? The ones high enough on the list to get early access to the tablet face some pretty barbaric conditions, with those blacked out windows and chained iPads. Though, we’re pretty sure it will be worth it, when the tablet finally gets released.

So, there you have it folks. Quick, and to the point. Hopefully you’ll stick around to see what’s coming, because even if we are dead-center of this calm before the storm, it’s all going to come to a head here soon, and we’ll be flooded with news, reviews, applications, and everything else we can get our hands on. So, as always, stay frosty.
