While we sit here and discuss how popular the iPad really is, we could probably just get a pretty clear picture of what’s really going on by watching the Apple website. After all, considering how hard Apple was pushing to get initial orders of the tablet out to buyers on day one –April 3rd– to see that orders are now being shipped a week later shows us that sales must be doing pretty good. Actually, better than good.

As you can see from the image, new orders placed for Apple’s tablet have been pushed back to an April 12th shipping date. Luckily though, it’s looking like the 3G+WiFi models are still labeled as late April, so they haven’t been pushed back (yet). So, we’re certainly hoping that you were on the ball when Apple unveiled the pre-order date. Either that, or you hopefully have the patience of a champion.
Of course, bad news comes in spades, right? Apple has also removed the option to reserve an iPad in store, so you can’t go play with it first, before you make a decision. It seems that Apple is making sure that all stock is accounted for, which makes us believe that numbers are getting pretty tight. Of course, we imagine that pre-orders are certainly as high as we’ve been hearing, but we’re willing to bet that the push to April 12th for shipping models is more of a plan to keep stock in check, rather than the company selling out. (Though, that would be great news.) Unless Apple Retail Stores start declaring they have lost their stock as well.
